Abstract

The article is devoted to a topical issue in the practical activity of the National Police, the communicative and psychological component of their professional activity. The author emphasized the fact that the specifics of the work of police officers are determined by various factors, which often put the life of not only citizens, but also the policeman himself at risk.

The author states that the use of firearms by police officers is associated with high dynamics (speed of firefight), pathogenic influence of psychological stressors of an extreme situation and a real threat to health and life. Such situations require a quick reaction, the skills of establishing a dialogue with participants in a conflict situation, and minimizing the use of weapons. The acquisition of such skills is laid down during the training of applicants and should be developed during professional activity.

Attention is focused on the fact that police officers, being at the scene of the incident, are usually one of the first to come into contact with persons affected by the crime. in such situations, police officers must also be able to apply the correct psychological and communication approaches to victims who are in a negative emotional and psychological state. At the same time, take into account the peculiarities of not only their mental and emotional state, but also the peculiarities of the age category (children, the elderly, people with disabilities, etc.).

It has been established that being in stressful situations, which are quite often accompanied by negative consequences, police officers also find themselves under the influence of such a negative emotional and psychological field. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the formation of psychological skills to overcome the negative impact of professional activity. This question becomes especially relevant in the conditions of martial law, when both society and the police face new challenges and dangers.

It is emphasized that psychological training is of particular importance in the field of firearms use. In turn, communication skills can help police officers defuse tension in conflict situations, avoid conflict escalation, and prevent the use of weapons by both offenders and police officers.
