Abstract

Taking into consideration the numerous archival and contemporary legal documents analysis the article describes the state of the agricultural production of the correctional-labour system of the Ukrainian Soviet Social Republic in 1923. The unknown important facts in that sphere are presented.

One of the ways of the timely delivery of the qualitative food products to the inmates is the development of the own agricultural production at the prison system. It is based on the market relations (investments, economic stimulation of the free labour of inmates).

During 1923 at least 6 different normative-legal acts, which were related to the agricultural production of the prison system of the Ukrainian Soviet Social Republic, were adopted. The main problems of the development of the agricultural production at the prison system of the Ukrainian Soviet Social Republic in 1923 were the insufficient material resources and financing, low agrotechnical culture and the lack of the skilled agricultural workers.
