Ya. Kovalenko ANALYSIS OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION BODIES, WHOSE COMPETENCE INCLUDES THE PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS

Abstract

This article is devoted to the consideration and analysis of the activities of the main human rights institutions of the European Union, the delimitation of their ju-risdictions, as well as the isolation of individual deficiencies of each of them.
The status, authority and principles of the European Union’s Ombudsman and the procedure forfiling and consideration of the relevant cases are examined. Special attention is paid to the activities of the European Union’s Agency on Fundamen-tal Rights, which is the body entrusted with concrete powers. Its purpose is directly related to increasing the level of the human rights protection in the European Union. Its main task is to provide the European Union’s institutions and member-states with the assistance in making decisions on the development of the functions, which are necessary to guarantee the fundamental human rights.
