Abstract

It is defined that weapons are special technical devices, means, and mechanisms, the primary purpose of which is to inflict material damage on objects and/or physical harm on individuals. It is emphasized that, depending on the applied characteristics of weapons and the manner in which their functional properties are manifested, weapons may be classified as firearms, cold weapons, gas weapons, nuclear weapons, and so forth.

It is stated that ammunition constitutes the elementary components of weapons that ensure the effectiveness of their construction and directly cause harm to living targets or damage to property.

It has been demonstrated that the distinctive features of non-military weapons are as follows: 1) they are objects of subjective property rights; 2) the classification of weapons and ammunition as non-military presupposes either the impossibility or substantial difficulty of their use in the course of military or combat operations.

It is concluded that non-military weapons and their ammunition are special technical devices, means, and mechanisms, as well as the elementary functional components necessary for their operation, intended for personal defense, sports, hunting, and other activities provided for by law, and they are characterized by a corresponding degree of risk in their use.
