The regulatory framework of the United Kingdom penitention system

Abstract

The article considers the main regulations governing the activities of the British penitentiary, identifies a list of basic (special) laws and additional (related) laws governing the British penitentiary system. In the article there is an analysis of the features and characteristics of the regulatory framework governing the British penitentiary system.

The paper is based on the problems of lack of a comprehensive study of the legal framework governing the UK penitentiary system. Based on the opinion that the British Penitentiary and the Ukrainian Penitentiary have a number of similar features, such as functioning on the basis of strict order and strict security measures, the division of correctional facilities into institutions of local (territorial) and national importance, management of correctional facilities by special bodies state authorities or authorized persons, etc.

The article clarified the fundamental differences in the functioning of the penitentiary system of Great Britain and Ukraine were clarified on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of the legal framework. The article synthesizes a list of characteristics that are inherent in the sources of the British penitentiary system.
