Manuscript & Submission Guidelines
Currently, the editorial board and founders of the journal are considering the issue of updating the editorial policy and editorial and publishing procedures of the journal and the procedures for accepting manuscripts.
Until this process is completed, the acceptance of new articles, including by e-mail or via the "Submit an article" module, is temporarily suspended.

- The scholarly journal “Bulletin of the Penitentiary Association of Ukraine” accepts manuscripts from academic staff (research, pedagogical, and academic personnel), postgraduate students, applicants, students, as well as other individuals holding higher education degrees and engaged in scientific or professional legal activities.
Manuscripts submitted by undergraduate (Bachelor’s) and graduate (Master’s) students are accepted for publication only if co-authored with a researcher holding an academic degree.
Submitted articles must be original research works prepared by the authors in compliance with proper citation and referencing standards.
To submit a manuscript, authors must register on the journal’s website. Registered users should log in to submit their manuscripts for review.
During submission, authors must confirm that their manuscript complies with the journal’s requirements. If non-compliance is identified during peer review, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for revision.
Publication frequency: four issues per year (quarterly).
- General Requirements for Manuscripts
- The manuscript must not have been previously published or submitted to other journals (or an explanation should be provided in the comments to the editor).
- Languages of publication: Ukrainian or English.
- The manuscript must comply with stylistic and bibliographic requirements set out in the Author Guidelines.

The journal “Bulletin of the Penitentiary Association of Ukraine” is a scholarly publication of the NGO “Penitentiary Association of Ukraine” and the Private Institution “Research Institute of Public Law.”
A scientific article must include the following elements:
- UDC (in the upper left corner of the page);
- author information;
- title of the article;
- abstracts;
- statement of the problem and its relevance to important scientific or practical tasks;
- analysis of recent research and publications, identification of unresolved issues;
- formulation of the objectives of the article;
- presentation of the main research material with substantiation of results;
- conclusions and prospects for further research;
- list of references and “References” section.
The article title and author details (full name or initials, academic degree, academic title, position, place of work or study) must be provided in both Ukrainian and English. ORCID must also be indicated (authors should register at http://orcid.org if they do not have one).
The manuscript must include abstracts and keywords (minimum of 5 keywords) in Ukrainian and English. The abstract length must be at least 1,800 characters.
The list of references shall be presented either in the order of citation in the text or in alphabetical order, in accordance with the interstate standard DSTU 8302:2015 “Information and Documentation. Bibliographic Reference. General Requirements and Rules”.
The References section must be formatted in the Roman alphabet in accordance with the APA Style (APA Reference Citations).
Authors must provide contact details (postal address, telephone number, email) for correspondence and publication coordination.
Articles are published in the author’s original version. Authors bear responsibility for the accuracy of facts, quotations, statistical data, and the absence of unreferenced borrowed material.
- Technical Requirements
- Manuscripts must be submitted as files in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, RTF, or WordPerfect format.
- Length: 12–20 pages (A4 format), 1.5 line spacing, 14 pt font; margins: left — 25 mm, right — 15 mm, top and bottom — 20 mm.
- References in the text should be indicated in square brackets with page numbers, e.g., [1, p. 235] or [2, p. 8; 3, p. 45; 9, p. 20].
- Tables, formulas, and illustrations must be concise, properly titled, in Times New Roman, 12 pt, and must not exceed page width. Mathematical formulas must be accurate and clearly presented.
- Formulas should be created using the built-in equation editor in Microsoft Word. The number of tables, formulas, and illustrations should be minimal and appropriate. Landscape-oriented tables and figures are not accepted.
- The list of references and the “References” section should be placed at the end of the article in the order of citation, in accordance with national and international standards.
- Emphasis should be made using italics (not underlining, except for URLs). All figures, graphs, and tables should be placed within the text at appropriate locations.
- Web references must include complete and accurate URLs.
- Restrictions on the Use of Sources from the Aggressor State
Authors must comply with the “Recommendations of the Ethics Committee on the termination (restriction) of the use of information sources of the aggressor state in scientific publications” (approved by the Ethics Committee, Protocol No. 36 (46) dated 30 November 2023).

Names and email addresses entered on the journal’s website will be used exclusively for the journal’s internal purposes and will not be disclosed or shared with third parties.
